Vincent is my Grandad, the only Grandad i knew and i will hold every memory of him close to my heart. When writing this eulogy i will be referring to my Grandad as The Badger because that is what everyone knew him as, even us Grandkids; Grandad Badger!
Grandad Badger was one of 13 children raised in County Meath in Ireland and to cut a very long story short, in 1952 he decided to come to Gorton Manchester even though he was only 19. This is when he met my Nanna. They went on to get married and had 8 children; Uncle Jimmy arriving 1st, then my Dad Kevin then twins Michael and Margery then more twins Kathryn and Angela then came Maureen and then the 'baby' Vincent. Life became busy for Grandad Badger who worked hard on the roads, gambled hard in the bookies and drank hard in The Gorton Mount and he still managed to be a wonderful role model for his 8 children and then his 15 Grandchildren; Jamie, Sammie (me), twins Lyndsay and Stacy, Jenna, Hayley, Mikee, Lisa, Shaunna, Thomas, James, Jack, Tom, Daniel and Harley. This was how he liked it, always had a stash of chocolate and chocolate limes or blackcurrant liquorice sweets for us kids, he knew one of us would always be there. I can see him now, sat in his chair next to the window, with his brown smart pants on and sky blue vest tucked in them, slippers on and his dog (well Maureens but she found new love elsewhere!) Lady sat watching him eat his tea-bacon and cabbage covered in pepper with 8 rounds of crusty bread so much butter on them i never actually knew if it was cheese spread or butter! Whenever i smell bacon and cabbage cooking i know The Badger is with me.
Unfortunatley Grandad Badger never got to meet his 7 Great Grandchildren, Ethan, Lydia, Tori, Davey, Mickey, Shineeka (R.I.P) and Alyssa-and another on the way!- during his time on earth but is with Baby Shineeka Miss in heaven both shining down on us all.
One thing is for sure The Badger lives on in us all, he will always be remembered.
We miss you Grandad, Great Grandad, Dad, Husband, Friendxxx

roses grow in heaven lord pick a bunch for me, place them in my dads arm and tell him there from me, tell him that i love and miss him and when he turns to smile place a kiss upon his cheek and hold him for a while because rememberig him is easy i do it everyday xxxxx

Well dad i had a right horrible dream about u the other night,maybe it was u trying to tell me sommat but i dont want another dream like that again ok lol...life is so hard now dad without ben being here,maybe u have met up with him there?? if so tell him to watch over me and harley and tell him to give me some sort of sign that he is around us cos i have this horrible feeling that it is my fault that he died and that he wont give me some sort of sign because of that, when i say sign i mean like sommat he would know that i would reconise that it is him i dont want him to appear in front of me cos that would be to scary....right got to go and get some sleep so keep shining bright and sleep tight R.I.P dad from ur bold bitch (as u use to call me) maureen xxxx

well me and nannie had a right good talk on Saturday about my hospital apps and what the future holds and i confessed i only come here to you when i want something but hey thats what grandads are for isnt it??!!! doesnt mean im not thinking about you when im not here burning ur ears!!
anyway, i want ye to have a good owl drink with my dave and his mates tomorrow for our anniversary!! he's prob forgot that its our anniversary, HE BEST NOT OF FORGOT MY BIRTHDAY THO!!!! but u know what Granda? its my 1st birthday without him and im scared Granda so MAKE him give ma sign he's with me, not literally like throw somethin!! but somethin subtle PLEASE, its ALL i want coz i know my only hope isnt possible he wont come back so a sign he's here will make my day.
i love you Granda, hope ur well up there and keepin them all in order! hope Ben found his resting place too, wherever you all are its got to be a better place than here!

aww how heart warming is that grandad? shows how special you are anyway, someone noticed ur name and thought 'theres only 1 badger!' and they were right! and 1 of your friends daughters, how lovely.

You don't know who I am but I had been on leaving a message for someone I have recently lost and came across the page for The Badger (a familiar name I grew up with) . I am putting this message on behalf of my Dad Paul Devine, who was a good friend of the Badger. My Dad always spoke highly of him, they worked together and always played practical jokes on each other. I also went to school @ St Albans with Vincent Jnr. I think its because i'd love you to of met Davey and his partner Mickey, 2 of your 7 great grandchildren and they'd of loved to of met you i know. I do hope i have done you proud Grandad xxx Please keep protecting Nannie, i do wish i could get to see her more often, she is always in my thoughts though.
